I was so afraid of the waves at the west coast beaches we never took the children there. They were teenagers when they finally discovered Bethells and Piha.
I know Barbara, but if you live in the West it is part of life. My children now do surf life saving every second Sunday at Karekare, I wish I could swim like them!!! :-)
