Pink and Plum Inspiration

Pink Plum Cupcakes

The other day in Titirangi I bought something new, a plum powder! I was very keen to try it and so I made some vanilla cupcakes and added some to the mixture. I also made a soft royal icing topping with about 1 tsp of plum powder. In baking I would say that you possibly need quite a bit to make a difference in colour and taste, but for icing it works really well, giving off a mild colour, smell and taste. I am keen to try more Fresh As flavours now! And of course the flowers are from my garden :-).

  5. Beautiful hydrangeas and lovely cupcakes! Wondering if that is the same type of plum powder we have over here, we sprinkled some of it over a piece of cooled fresh green crunchy guava, delicious! Great for making sauces too!

    1. I don't know? This I think is freeze dried, doris plums. Sprinkling it on guava sounds good, although it is rare to find crunchy tropical guavas here.

  9. Hi, Alessandra. Just dropped by to say hello. And an update to a camera app on iPhone/iPad2. I only use my iPad2 because I only have an iPhone 3G which is out of date, broken WiFi and can't use the latest iOS. But anyway, I found another application on the App Store that you can use for food photography. The name is PuddingCom camera. Just browse under Photo & Video apps, you'll find it. This app has fantastic features with excellent filters that you can use for food photography. If you are interested in Hipstamatic, again it can be browsed under P&V apps, there is a new lens for food, called Loftus, is also an option. Have fun!

    Love,
    ab
