It was a long drive, about 7-8 hours, but we stopped in a few places to stretch our legs and take in the views.
In the late afternoon we got to Gisborne, the first city in the world to see the light of the each new day.
Wiremu Pere: The Life and Times of a Maori Leader, 1837–1915. It was an honour to be there to launch such a important book.
On Saturday we strolled in the city...
... and went to the beach. A bit too cold for me to swim, but not for the kids!
Also, many treasures to be found on the beach...
And things to build!
In the afternoon we visited another Gisborne beach, a real surfers' paradise. And this is the backyard or my friend Elena's house...

Aleeeeeee lo so che ne vale la pena e ad essere sincera non mi sembra nemmeno poi così lontana . . .sarà per il fatto che è proprio voglia di andarci!!

Beh, meno male Manu, me lo dicono in tanti, ma poi pochi arrivano, anche perche' ci vogliono minimo 3-4 settimane di vacanza tutte insieme per godersela :-)
