Anawhata is a spectacular beach in the Waitakere Ranges that can only be reached by foot.

In the bush...on the way to the Anawhata track.

Nearly there....

Black volcanic sand

Along the coastline are nesting sites for Little Blue Penguins.

Nobody around

Only two Paradise Shelduck, Tadorna variegata, endemic to New Zealand

...And amazing colours
