Our friends Fiona and Jonathan recently got married in Las Vegas, a bit of a surprise really, so upon their return (and once we actually found out) we invited them for dinner with other friends. What better excuse for a dinner party? Instead of cake I thought of having some wedding cupcakes, and Arantxa got really enthusiastic about making a small bride and groom to put on the top cupcake, using fondant.
She set to work using white, almond, pink and chocolate fondant, and her miniatures were as small (or smaller) than mini Polly Pockets dolls!!! Just look at her finger next to them!
I thought that they looked so pretty, and the newly-wed cut the cupcake after dinner. What a lovely evening! Anyone else getting married??

Exquisite!!! We used to be miniaturists (making dolls house furniture in 12th scale) and I must say, the bride and groom would look so at home in a 24th scale dolls house!
ReplyDeleteReally?!? We (A. and I) also love miniatures! :-)

ReplyDeleteCiao
Alessandra
I only saw your comment now Allesandra. We were members of the Johannesburg Society of Miniature Enthusiasts (JSME) and Jaco made lovely stuff in miniature for our dolls house at some of the workshops we attended. There are miniature societies in NZ as well, and you could consider joinging the NZ society of Miniaturists. Unfortunately it didn't work out for us at the local club we went to and we are not active miniaturists (making and exhibiting) any longer. Though Mia and myself are encouraging Jaco to take it up again to become miniaturists again.
ReplyDelete:-) Marietjie, would love to, but I don't think that I could find the time for one more hobby!
ReplyDeleteCiao
