Fish Spa in Singapore

Yesterday's new experience was to try to be fish food! There are these Spas around Singapore that offer a special fish spa experience: you put your feet inside big fish tanks and all the little fish rush around to chomp off your dead skin. It doesn't hurt, of course, but at first it is quite strange, as it may tickle! It lasts 30 minutes, the kids loved it and laughed all the time, and since we were the only customers there they moved around different tanks to make sure that they feed every single fish! I stayed still in my initial spot, I didn't want to deprive the fishes that had started working on my feet of their morning feed, I even kept my position when I realize that my tank was in the shop window and passers by could see my feet through the glass! Two small children stopped and observed the strange aquarium for a while, but most passers by didn't even notice.  Anyway, I recommend the experience, the fish spa is called Kenko and there are 6 around the city, we went to the 313 Orchard Rd Shopping centre (Tel. 6509 0303).

  1. ecco io sta cosa non ce la posso fare....mi fa senso cacciare i piedi in un posto dove i pesciolini mi mangiucchiano la pelle in eccesso....
no no ecco questo non potrei mai farlo.

  4. That is SO COOL!! But do you pay extra if the fish spend longer on your feet because you've neglected them??

  5. This reminds me of when we were kids and we'd put our feet in the water with the tadpoles. Not quite the same thing as feeding the fish I guess. :)

  7. @ Red, I think that one needs to go quite often to make a difference :-).
@ Chiara, sono pesciolini troppo gentili per essere piranha!

  10. I saw these feet eating fish treatments in the UK. As you might imagine they were accompanied by massive worries about health and safety taking the shine off what looks like a fun experience. I think I might need rather larger fish to do just to my feet which are in a dreadful state!

  11. Yes you do wonder about health issues, although Singapore is such a 'sterilized' city, they even washed and disinfected our feet before going in!

I have little internet, but this afternoon I'll try to come and visit you all!

  12. Hi Alessandra! Sorry for my late visit after you told me about it. I am still on a break but checking to see this post. I knew what you were talking about when you left "fish spa" message on my blog. Heheh. I've never done this but I heard about it before and have seen it on TV. I'd love to try this if I ever get a chance!

  14. Oh my goodness, I nearly fell into the tank with all the fish when a friend made me try this last time. It was SOOO ticklish! I had to keep taking my feet out. My soles remained untreated, the fish were left hungry, it was not a fruitful trip!
