I made the sugar balls from your cookbook as Christmas presents!! I made two kinds - one elderflower (green) and one vanilla rose petal (red). I've paired them with some beautiful silk-bagged pomegranate cranberry tea bags. Lovely!!
ReplyDelete@ Make-do Mum, that's great, I am so happy! And I would like to try the elderflower, did you use an essence or syrup or something else?
ReplyDelete(copied on my blog as well)
ReplyDeleteThanks Alessandra, I make homemade elderflower cordial http://makedomum.blogspot.com/2011/11/elderflower-cordial-and-elderflower.html and just replaced the vanilla in your recipe for half the amount of elderflower syrup. I had tried drying elderflower in the caster sugar, this did not work well. The smell was horrid and (luckily) dissipated in the fresh air! I made rose sugar with dried rose petals that I sieved out after a few days.
Alessandra! I love the origami Christmas tree decoration, the Calissons and the flower/star biscuits. I tried to click on the link 'Xmas Tree Biscuits' to get the recipe but the link wasn't working! :-)) x.
ReplyDeleteShirleen, I removed that post because I published something very similar in my latest book and I couldn't keep it on the blog :-). You can find the recipe in Party Food for Girls and also in this month issue of Good Magazine (there is a picture here http://alessandrazecchini.blogspot.com/2011/11/homemade-edible-decorations-for.html)
ReplyDelete@ Make-do Mum, thank you for the quick reply!
ReplyDeleteLove those star biscuits!! Beautiful shapes.
ReplyDeleteWhat joy...off to take a peek at some...thank you .xoxox
beautiful!
ReplyDeleteMy favorites are the small treats especially the Turkish Delights, look so pretty and delicious...!! I need to try them someday, I've never had them in my life, but they somehow remind me of Japanese mochi :).
ReplyDelete@ Cooking Gallery, I also like small treats, and yes, Turkish delight is a bit like mochi :-).
I love the homemade marzipan -so dainty and cute!
ReplyDeleteI think that it is one of my favourites as well Lucy, plus it tastes so good!
